Betty is the writer behind the publication Betty ‘Eatz’ Newsletter, where she writes about California Cuisine, and the kinds of food reflected by the populations and cultures hailing from all over the world, such as Asia, Central and South America and the Mediterranean.
Betty’s career has taken her from a “Southern cuisine restaurant in Texas, to an international advertising agency in Hungary, to a family owned winery in California”. She has also run her own menu subscription business, written a food column for a newspaper for 10 years, and ghostwritten cookbooks and blog posts for others.
In this conversation, we talk about her writing and her visit with a friend to Budapest, arriving on the evening of the Romanian revolution. Hear how her friend changed her mind at the last moment about moving there, just as Betty had sold everything and was herself ready to go.
